Lemoyne Star

US 60,

Montgomery County

This pattern is named after the founders of the city New Orleans.  Two brothers explored the Mississippi River and its area in the 1700’s.   “Star of Lemoyne is known by several names.  The pattern named has been changed because of non French speaking quilters.  Some of the names that the Star of Lemoyne can go by are Diamond, Eastern Star, Lemon Star, and the Puritan Star.  The pattern is constructed simply of eight 60’diamond shapes, with half – squares an d squares set into the corners.  This block is in honor of Margaret Trusty's mother - Beulah Ware - a long-time quilter and maker of many beautiful quilts.  The barn is located at Hilltop Farm.
