  • Story of the Pattern:
    The small brick building that the quilt block sits beside was constructed in 1834 by John McCutchen McConnell, a lawyer and State Senator.   After Senator McConnell’s death the law office became the first private brick school house in Greenup County.   The block was painted by Janice LeBrun, a local artist who was commissioned by the Greenup County Tourism and Convention Office to do the project after receiving a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for the Arts
