Story of the Pattern: The Sunburst Quilt is an actual quilt that is owned by the U.S. Forest Service. The quilt is over 100 years old and was pieced in the cabin near the barn that the square is on. The quilt was given as a wedding present to Stanley Gibbs and eventually migrated to California. The quilt was donated back to its original location by a sister of Mr. Gibbs.
